July 2017 – month in review

31 July 2017 | By

Yet another whirlwind of a month has passed by – including reviving the blog! Here’s a summary of what July 2017 brought my way…

Milestone events and miscellaneous happenings

I’m almost halfway through my maternity leave, and my baby is growing up so quickly Since hubby is back at work now, bub and I are starting to get into a daily routine. But I’ll save all the baby talk for Charles’ upcoming 3 month update!

I’ve started to really get into cooking and using HelloFresh meal boxes – they’ve been great for introducing new food combinations in an easy and fun way. Currently we’re also trying out Marley Spoon meal delivery service – to see how they compare with each other. Results coming soon.

Unfortunately, a good part of this month was spent with me with an awful case of the flu not fun at all. I guess that’s what comes with freezing nights and chilly days in the middle of winter! Spring is on its way though…definitely looking forward to the upcoming warmer change.

Blogging

I was off the radar during May, June and the first part of July (read about why this happened)… But I’m super stoked to finally be back! Didn’t fully realise how much I had missed blogging during this time until I got back into it again.

To recap, here are some quick links to the posts from this month:

I know because of the break I’ll need to work on building up my readership again. However, I was still pretty happy with how this month went, despite only resuming blogging halfway through it.

There ended up being ~1050 page views from ~630 users. Let’s see how next month goes if I keep up regular posting!

Goals for August 2017

  • Get out of the house more with baby – kickstart the social life
  • Have more guests over at the house, whether it’s for lunch, dinner or just afternoon tea.
  • Start some sort of regular exercise…it’s needed
  • Blog more frequently! I know this keeps coming up as a goal but I haven’t really made consistent progress in it yet…so with the fresh start of a new month I’ll be trying again.

Coming up…

Stay tuned for these and more in the upcoming month!

  • Charles’ 3 month update
  • My 3 month postpartum update
  • Marley Spoon meal box review
  • More recipes and dinner reviews
  • My essential breastfeeding products

Sounds interesting!

  1. I love this. Congrats on your new addition And congrats on getting back to blogging. I took a break myself, it’s needed sometimes. I went to a family reunion in July and wrote the first draft of my book. Can’t wait for your updates

  2. I was completely thrown when you said Winter in July, then I remembered you’re in the Southern hemisphere. Hope you’re well after a case with the flu, it sounds like you had a busy month with another one coming ahead. Can’t wait to read baby’s update.

  3. Congrats on your baby. Babies are so fun but you never anticipate how busy they will make you. Lol, kind of like blogging. You see the fun and excitement. I haven’t tried a meal delivery yet but would like to. Even once a week would be a nice way to have a break, try something new and nutritious.

  4. Glad to hear that you’re over the flu. I’d be interested to hear more about your experience using Hello Fresh as well. Will have to check back.

  5. Those are pretty great goals and def doable! I need to set some goals with NUMBER ONE BEING BLOG MOREEE!! it’s so hard to do it in the summer when all i want to do is meet with friends and sleep all day lol

  6. Welcome back to the world of blogging. Sounds like you’ve had a pretty good couple of weeks, despite the fact that you’ve been ill. Good luck in achieving all that you set out to in August! I’d love to have a few people over to our new house too (once it’s less crash-site looking haha) – hosting a dinner party has crossed my mind a few times now.

  8. Congratulations for having a baby! And welcome back on being an active blogger looking forward for your awesome reviews and updates.

  9. July was productive for me but nothing special. I am looking forward to hopefully starting a new job this month and I have a trip back to one of my favorite countries, Puerto Rico in a few weeks. Can’t wait! Just kicking butt in the gym while I wait.

  10. Good for you for setting these goals! I have a little one too, about the same age as yours! I totally feel you. Life is going through a major adjustment, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
